Decline in Home Sales Continues
As expected, home sales are tapering off as we approach the winter holidays. Home sales were down considerably from last month and from last year. Pending home sales were up considerably, and this could possibly be good news for the October sales numbers. We’ll have to wait and see.
Average Price Per Square Foot Holding Steady
The average price per square foot has stabilized nicely over the last four months, averaging $130 per square during that time. That’s up from $124 per square foot over the last year. It’s not unusual to see prices start to diminish as we pass the peak of the real estate season. To see this stat holding steady during this time is a positive sign.
Housing Inventory on the Climb
The actual number of homes for sale last month did not increase, but when you compare the number of available listings to the number of pending sales which was down, the months of available inventory stat grew.
